Musee de Venoge presents again this year a selection of domestic arts and decorative arts classes. When we do this we help to keep these arts alive and apply them to our lives today.
July 22, 1-4 pm: Make fresh herb cheese
Make your own fresh cheese on our hearth and flavor it with the herbs from the Venoge kitchen garden. Try different combinations of herbs to find the one you like. The class will be in the Venoge cottage.
All materials furnished.
Limited class size. $15
August 26, 1-4 pm: Paint a chalkware folk piece
Select your choice of 3 designs, rooster, bird or cat. Paint a cast plaster piece in the manner of the early 19th century. Chalkware was an inexpensive decorative item that mirrored the more expensive chinaware pieces. You can paint in a traditional manner or indulge your whims. The class will be held in the new barn at Venoge.
All materials furnished.
Limited class size. $25
September 16, 1-4 pm: Early Swiss/German Furniture construction
Ever wonder why or how older pieces of furniture seem to last for centuries? Learn some of the construction techniques our Swiss and German ancestors used to build the antiques we collect today. Mike McHugh, craftsman and woodworker, will present a talk and demonstration of construction techniques use to make furniture last through the ages.
The class will be held in the new barn at Venoge.
